02/02/2012    Mentorship Event - Resume Critique and Mock Interview

**SIGN UP IS REQUIRED HERE TO SECURE A SPOT AT THE EVENT.**

For the first mentorship event this term, we will have a presentation giving useful tips on resume writing and interviews. A discussion between the mentors and mentees will follow, critiquing on a resume of their choice. Mentees are highly encouraged to bring their own resume to get the most out of the event. Mentors are welcome to show mentees their own resumes if they are comfortable. There will also be mock interviews specifically for actuarial co-op jobs. This would be a great opportunity for everyone currently in the JobMine process to prep for their upcoming interviews.
Food and refreshment will be provided.

(You must be a member of the Act Sci Club for the term to attend. You can do so at any of our events, or during office hours at M3-3107. Otherwise we won't have your information.)

This event is jointly held with the Double Degree Club.
WLU Professor Dr. Brian Smith will be giving an introduction to financial modelling.

SOA President-Elect, Brad Smith, Talk

The talk will begin at 4:15pm, in MC 1056.

Brad Smith will be giving a talk on recent initiatives from the SOA as well as some general information about the SOA.
He will be taking questions from the audience, however it is requested that you send your questions to the Club (just send toasclub@uwaterloo.ca) before noon on Wednesday 06 July for approval - you will be contacted if your question has been chosen, and be able to ask it yourself.


Questions may be such as :
-"why should Canadians bother with FSA once they have FCIA, and ?international
strategy?"
-"how does the SOA feel about a significant non-US/Canada membership?"
-"whether the SOA will recognize CIA accreditation, as it does for the UK and Australia?"

The Pacific Rim Actuaries Club along with the Joint Risk Management Section of the SOA have arranged for a workshop on ERM, led by Stuart Wason of OSFI.
Pre-Registration is required by 13 July, and non-members (of the PRAC) are welcome to join for 20$ pre-registered, or 30$ for walk-in.
